The G100 coalition has announced that it has completed the first round of private consultations with major opposition figures and political parties ahead of efforts to build a broad opposition alliance.
In a statement issued by Salihu Lukman, the group said it held discussions with representatives of Atiku Abubakar of the ADC, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NDC, Seyi Makinde’s APM, as well as the PDP, PRP and SDP.
Lukman said the meetings with national chairmen, presidential candidates and running mates were frank and encouraging, adding that they were deliberately held away from the media to protect the integrity of the process.
According to him, the participants agreed that building a credible opposition requires sacrifice and a commitment to placing national interest above personal ambitions.
The G100 said it has scheduled a Summit of Opposition Parties for August 18, 2026, in Abuja, where participants are expected to discuss modalities for forming a grand political alliance under its Doctrine of Necessary Democratic Opposition.
The coalition warned that continued fragmentation would serve neither the opposition nor Nigerians, stressing that its role is to facilitate dialogue rather than dictate the outcome.
