Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says his participation at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) in New York is aimed at promoting the state’s visibility and attracting investment opportunities.
Fubara made this known while speaking with journalists at the event on Tuesday.
The governor said the conference and its side meetings would provide opportunities to showcase Rivers State’s potential in the oil and gas sector and other areas of economic development to international investors.
“We’re trying to give visibility to the state and also showcase the areas where God has really endowed us, oil and gas, and other aspects of the state,” he said.
Fubara expressed optimism that the engagements would attract investors with immediate interest in doing business in Rivers State, given its strategic position in the oil and gas industry.
He also said the state was exploring opportunities for financing and investment, adding that the engagements would complement the activities of the Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency.
The governor expressed confidence that the state’s participation would yield positive results, saying, “Overall, I would say that Rivers’ visibility will be prominent in this conference and we will come home with some good investment for our dear state.”
Fubara is part of the Nigerian delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to the gathering of global leaders.
