Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday night received a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) at the Government House in Port Harcourt as part of the Commission’s ongoing national data verification exercise.
The delegation is in Rivers State to update fiscal records and verify data required for effective revenue allocation across the country. The exercise is designed to assess information available to the Commission and strengthen transparency and accountability in public financial management.
RMAFC, the federal agency charged with monitoring revenues accruing to and disbursed from the Federation Account, is also engaging stakeholders and reviewing how public funds allocated to local governments and other tiers of government are utilized within the state.
A member of the delegation, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, who represents Rivers State on the Commission, is participating in the exercise.
The Rivers State Government has pledged its full support to the RMAFC team to ensure the smooth conduct of the verification process.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement earlier in the day, the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Kenneth Lekue, said the administration of Governor Fubara recognizes the significance of the exercise, particularly in relation to revenue allocation and improved fiscal planning.
Lekue stated that the state government had made adequate arrangements to provide the delegation with accurate and firsthand information necessary for effective data collection and verification.
He also assured the team that Rivers State remains peaceful and secure, encouraging members of the delegation to carry out their assignment freely and seek assistance whenever required.
