MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Eph.5:21)
READ: EPHESIANS: 5:20-21
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
In Trinity, there is functional subordination and mutual equality. By these principles the Godhead remains an indivisible whole perfectly united while maintaining absolute diversity. God promised redemption, Jesus secured redemption by His death on the cross, the Holy Spirit is appropriating the finished work of redemption in the heart of those who believe. This perfect harmony and unity is God’s will for the church on earth today. Unfortunately, there is so much division and rancor among those who believe. Segregation, denominationalism and leadership tussle is what we see among us.
God is calling His church back to orderliness and functional subordination. We all cannot be leaders. There must be the leaders and the led. Both the leaders and the led have responsibility towards ech other. Leadership in the body of Christ is not tyranny and dictatorship rather, it is servant leadership. ”Ye call me Lord, but if I your Lord and master wash feet, ye go out to wash one another’s feet.” (Jn.13:13-15)
Following God means, being subject to constituted authority whether they are secular or ecclesiastical, as long as it does not hurt your faith. Wherever rebellion it is found, for whatever reason, it is devilish and ungodly.
God will never bless any vision or project born out of rebellion and selfishness. It is the will of God that wives submit to their husband; children submit to their parents in the Lord, the laity submit to the clergy in the fear of God.
TURNING POINT: “Following God means, being subject to constituted authority whether they are secular or ecclesiastical.”
PRAYER POINT: Lord. I rebuke the Spirit of rebellion in our churches and our homes. I cast it out in Jesus name. Amen.
