A former Chief Security Officer of Bori, the headquarters of Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, has been killed by gunmen suspected to be cultists.
The victim, identified as Letam Kine, was reportedly shot on Sunday evening along Polytechnic Road in Bori. The attackers fled the scene immediately after carrying out the attack.
The incident sparked panic in the community, forcing residents and business owners to flee for safety before police arrived and recovered the victim’s body.
Reacting to the killing, Khana Local Government Chairman, Thomas Bariere, condemned the attack and urged security agencies to ensure those responsible are arrested and brought to justice.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway while security patrols have been intensified to track down the perpetrators.
