The Presidency has reacted to reports of President Buhari’s son-in-law, Gimba Kumo been wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences for financial crimes.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Friday, said the suspect was no longer an inlaw to the president as the marriage ended many years ago.
He described as unfortunate attempts by some individuals to bring the President’s family into the case.
Shehu also stated that the presidency will not provide any cover for crime, no matter who is involved.
“As is well known of him, President Muhammadu Buhari will not provide any cover for crime, no matter who is involved,” he said.
To set the records straight, the person declared wanted by the ICPC isn’t an in-law to President Buhari.
“While at some point in time, the said fugitive from justice had been linked to a family member in marriage, that relationship ended some years ago,” he added.
