The National Sports Commission has confirmed the payment of the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each player of Nigeria’s D’Tigress, while team officials received $50,000 each, as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reward for their historic fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s Afrobasket title.
The Commission said the payments were credited to the accounts of the players and officials on September 9, 2026, with all beneficiaries confirming receipt.
With the payment, the National Sports Commission said all components of the Presidential reward package for the team have now been fulfilled.
The players and officials had earlier received the title documents, or Certificates of Occupancy, for their three-bedroom flats in Abuja, as well as the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) national honours signed by President Tinubu in February 2026.
Nigeria’s latest Afrobasket triumph secured the team’s fifth consecutive title and seventh overall.
