Nigerian musician Stephen Ebihor, popularly known as Papi Urhobo, has died after battling a prolonged illness.
His death was announced by Urhobo Worldwide, a digital community and cultural platform dedicated to promoting Urhobo heritage, music, traditions and unity, in a statement shared on its Instagram page on Tuesday.
According to the platform, the singer died on September 8 following his illness.
Urhobo Worldwide urged fans and members of the public to refrain from circulating unverified information, particularly regarding his burial arrangements, pending an official announcement from his family.
Papi Urhobo gained prominence in the Nigerian music scene after featuring on Timaya’s hit song “Ogologonma,” which helped bring him to wider public attention.
