The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced his funeral arrangements, describing him as a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague whose life was marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and strong devotion to God and family.
In a statement titled “Forever in Our Hearts,” the family expressed deep sorrow over his passing while giving thanks to God for a life they described as impactful and beautifully lived.
They also appreciated the overwhelming support received since his death, including prayers, messages, visits, calls, and words of encouragement, noting that the outpouring of love has been deeply humbling and comforting during this painful period.
According to the family, Alexx Ekubo lived a life that touched many people and left lasting memories, adding that his presence brought light, joy, and inspiration to those around him.
The funeral programme begins with a service of songs scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with guests expected to be dressed in white. This will be followed by a wake keep on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu in Abia State.
The funeral service will hold on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, while interment will take place the same day at the family residence in Arochukwu. A reception is also scheduled immediately after the interment at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village.
The family has requested continued prayers for his wife and the entire Ekubo-Okwaraeke family as they prepare to lay him to rest. The statement was signed by Mazi Ekubo Okwaraeke (UGWUARO) on behalf of the family.
