TEXT: I Kings 21:17-29
MEMORY VERSE: “Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel.” I Kings 21:21 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Brethren, the reward of the wicked is horribly unimaginable and very costly. Our text reveals the price for which Ahab the wicked king in Israel was going to pay as a result of his wickedness upon his fellow mankind. The reward extended to his household in totality. God said he will take away his posterity and make his house like the house of Jeroboam (I Kings 21: 21 – 26). Indeed, the price for wickedness is very high.
Anyone who will not regard the Lord’s warning shall be consumed by God’s judgment in his wickedness. The question is: will you be numbered among those that will escape God’s judgment? If you wish to be among them, then, you must show it now by your lifestyle. You must renounce all forms of wickedness you engage yourself. You cannot escape the wrath of God if you are a murderer, fornicator, liar, fraudsters, etc. It is to your own good to repent now and ensure that your name is in the Book of life. I urge you to amend your ways now, and repent from your wicked ways; otherwise, you will drink from the cup of the wicked man. What shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul?
It’s just a little time and the wicked shall be punished. But no matter the length of time that God has waited for the wicked to repent, if they don’t repent, they will surely be judged. That is why you must not join them to do evil. “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment” (Ex 23:2).
Brethren, the wicked cannot escape, except he repents. His repentance and acceptance of our Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Saviour is the only escape route available to him, because that is why Jesus came. So, I implore you to accept Jesus now, so that it shall be well with you. Anyone who continues in sin is a wicked person. Now that you have known what the reward of the wicked shall be, if you still ignore the warning, and continue in wickedness, then, when the wicked shall be given their reward, yours shall be included.
- Examine yourself and ensure you are not treading on the path of the wicked and ask God to help you not to walk in evil.
- Lord, forgive me in any way I may have walked on the path of wickedness. I repent of all my mistakes and I ask you to take charge of my life henceforth, in Jesus name. Amen.
