ESOCS Devotional 8 February 2023
TEXT: MATTHEW 14:22-36
MEMORY VERSE: “And besought Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.” Matthew 14:36
We shall concentrate only on the activities of Jesus in Gennesaret and the lessons. Jesus’ contemporaries did not understand who He was during His earthly ministry (Matthew 16:13-14). They knew Him to be only physical who only came to solve their physical needs. For this reason, they came to Jesus for physical healing, not for spiritual healing, to prolong their lives on earth, rather than seeking to secure first, their eternal lives.
Today, in the same way, people may seek Jesus to learn valuable lessons from His life or in hopes of finding relief from pain. But we miss Jesus’ whole message if we seek Him only in this life, rather than His eternal plan for us.
Jesus takes care of our spiritual needs. He died to give eternal life to whoever believes in Him. It is only when we understand Jesus Christ fully that we can appreciate how He can truly change our life. Seek Him to live forever in paradise.
- Some people have doubt about Jesus and all He can do.
- May God open the eyes of the understanding of those yet to know Jesus fully.
