TEXT: LUKE 10:1-14
MEMORY VERSE: “Go your way; behold, I send you out into the midst of wolves” (Luke10:3 AMP).
Lambs in the midst of wolves are like minced meat. Our Lord gave His disciples this important information in the memory verse to equip them with knowledge that enabled them not fall into complacency, relax, and take things for granted.
A lamb is a young sheep: Sheep among men are known to be meek, very quiet, obedient, and gentle. Wolves among me are known for their dominance, authority, and quest for supremacy, which they express through their pride and arrogance.
Lambs are protected from wolves and other predators because they are helpless to defend themselves. And Jesus is ever committed to protecting His sheep from all evil, as they carry out the task He has committed into their hands.
However, it is expected that every follower of Jesus would be like Him in word, thought, and character. But many Christians are not walking in His ways. Therefore, they lose God’s defence. But the faithful ones are safe. They possess His Spirit in them. They are His purchased possession because they align themselves with the reason Christ went to the cross: that He may redeem the lost sheep in order that they may become the saints of God.
Whatever we do, let us remember that there are wolves out there seeking whom to destroy. Let us be awake and fight the good fight of faith: “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses” (1 Tim. 6:12 NIV); that we may be “more than conquerors” (Rom. 8:37).
- Refuse to follow anyone but Jesus Christ, The Good Shepherd.
- Lord, I ask for the grace to follow you all the days of my life.
