TEXT: DANIEL 6:1-23
MEMORY VERSE: “So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you” (Daniel 6:16 NKJV).
Daniel the faithful would rather be eaten up by lions than worship or pray to other gods. Like his three friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, he defied the king’s decree that compelled people to bow to and worship a graven image. He remained faithful to his God despite the threat to his life. In the end, God delivered him from the lion’s den and made him a prince above other princes native to the land. His friends were thrown into the highly heated furnace but they came out unhurt (Dan. 3:1-30).
They are part of the triumphant saints. The Bible says concerning them, “… they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]” (Rev. 12:11 AMP).
God said, “… For those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed” (1 Sam. 2:30 AMP).
Christians are becoming more impatient with circumstances in life today; and they turn away from God. They go the way of the world, and are lost in it.
When we are faced with trials and temptations of different kinds, we should always remember Daniel and his friends, Hannah, Paul and Silas, the cripple at the pool of Bethesda, and all others who waited patiently on the Lord for their deliverance, blessings, and answers to their prayers. Such attitude would help us to hold ourselves so that we do not walk away from our God and destroy the good relationship we have built with Him over many years.
Let us remember that trials are part of our Christian race; for through it we receive the crown of life (James 1:12); we experience God’s power of deliverance, and we are drawn closer to Him in the process; and not walk away from Him.
- Learn to be patient with the Lord and He will bless you.
- Lord, let me not enter into temptation.
