TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:11-24
MEMORY VERSE: “Put on all the amor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the devil and his tricks” (Ephesians 6:11 GNT).
The armours of God include Truth, which renders the devil ineffective, for Truth is Christ and Christ is Truth (John 14:6). When we shield our heart with righteousness, sin cannot come into it; and we would not think ungodly thoughts or meditate on anything that does not align with the word of God. For those are errors indeed.
Another formidable weapon is the gospel of Jesus Christ, if we preach it to others everywhere we go, and very importantly, practise it also. It would make us outstanding, and when we allow it to control and moderate our life, we would experience a victorious Christian living. Because it is the gospel of peace, we would have peace in our life, for we would have peace with God, and in our relationship with people.
Faith in God is a crowning shield and defence. If we cultivate it in us, and never fear or doubt God’s love and faithfulness, we would experience His presence around us on every side. No ill can befall us, no matter how hard the tempter and his agents may try.
The salvation that God gives through Christ is a very strong and formidable armour. It carries the spiritual legal right we have to be called the sons and daughters of God (John 1:12); made heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17); made His royal kings and priests (Rev. 5;10; 1 Pet. 2:9); and the redeemed of the Lord (Is. 62:12). These would become real in our life if we show the Father the evidence that His Son is truly our Lord by obedience to all that His Son commands us to do (Luke 6:46; John 2:5).
The word of God is “the sword of the Spirit”, a powerful weapon the devil cannot resist. Also, fervency in prayers disorganises the kingdom of darkness. If we store up all these weapons in us, we shall be more than conquerors.
- What amours do you put on every day of your life?
- Lord, help me to understand your amours and use them always
