TEXT: ESTHER 4:4-17
MEMORY VERSE: “Go gather all the Jews that are present in Susa, and observe fast for me, do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids also will fast in the same way. Then I will go to see the king (without being summoned), though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.” (Esther 4:16 AMP).
When difficult times come, believers do not begin to murmur, complain or mourn; they go to their prayer altar. They commune there with God, their heavenly Father and hand over the problems to Him, just like Hezekiah did (2 Kings 19:14-16); for they believe that “the battle is the Lord’s” (1 Sam. 17:47).
Esther understood this principle. Her people fasted and prayed; the Israelites were set free, and Haman was hanged in the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. The prayer altar is the battle ground. There’s no victory in tears, depression or bitterness. Before problems come, God knows it all. He simply waits for us to come to Him and He would take over the burden from us, overtake for us, and overcome for us. he wants to see us happy at all times. Our Lord said to us, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28 NKJV). He is our burden bear. Let us go to Him always.
Praying to the Father shows a number of things. It indicates that we have faith in Him, and that we are confident that He is willing to help us; and that He is capable of solving our problems. Such attitude is well pleasing to Him. It shows that our hearts are centred on Him, and that we acknowledge Him as our God and Father; and that we do not have any other God or anyone else to resort or turn to. Such attitude moves Him to come to our help speedily, and He would want to defend the integrity of His name.
In our families and in the church, we should always pray with unity of faith and one accord like the Israelites under Esther and the people of Nineveh and their king fasted and prayed together. We would receive speedy answers to their prayers; a nice thing to do.
- Understand that we conquer on our knees, in most cases.
- Lord, please hear me when I call on you in times of need.
