ESOCS Devotional 19 June 2026 – Blessed Beyond Curse II
MEMORY VERSE: “And Balak said unto Balaam, what has thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou blessed them altogether.” Numbers 23:11
TEXT: NUMBERS 22:36-END, 23:1-12
Now when Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the city of Moab, which is on the border at the Arnon, the boundary of the territory. 37 Then Balak said to Balaam, “Did I not earnestly send to you, calling for you? Why did you not come to me? Am I not able to honor you?”
38 And Balaam said to Balak, “Look, I have come to you! Now, have I any power at all to say anything? The word that God puts in my mouth, that I must speak.” 39 So Balaam went with Balak, and they came to Kirjath Huzoth. 40 Then Balak offered oxen and sheep, and he sent some to Balaam and to the princes who were with him.
41 So it was, the next day, that Balak took Balaam and brought him up to the high places of Baal, that from there he might observe the extent of the people.
Then Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare for me here seven bulls and seven rams.”
2 And Balak did just as Balaam had spoken, and Balak and Balaam offered a bull and a ram on each altar. 3 Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever He shows me I will tell you.” So he went to a desolate height. 4 And God met Balaam, and he said to Him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram.”
5 Then the Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.” 6 So he returned to him, and there he was, standing by his burnt offering, he and all the princes of Moab.
7 And he took up his oracle and said:
“Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram,
From the mountains of the east.
‘Come, curse Jacob for me,
And come, denounce Israel!’
8 “How shall I curse whom God has not cursed?
And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?
9 For from the top of the rocks I see him,
And from the hills I behold him;
There! A people dwelling alone,
Not reckoning itself among the nations.
10 “Who can count the dust of Jacob,
Or number one-fourth of Israel?
Let me die the death of the righteous,
And let my end be like his!”
11 Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and look, you have blessed them bountifully!”
12 So he answered and said, “Must I not take heed to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?”

One cannot be humanly explain the desperation of certain persons to undo others. It is ridiculous to see the moves, steps, and actions people can take against their brother or sister just to bring them down, both at the family front, the church, community, organization, and even the society. People are ready to go to any length to see that someone is kicked out of a position unjustly; some other person is denied an entitlement due him/her; others frustrated out of a system or even completely eliminated that their name be not remembered. But hear this, any one making such move against your life shall fall for your sake and shall be disappointed, in Jesus name.
The wicked resolve of Balak to get the Israelites cursed and the eagerness of Balaam to go for the journey possibly on the strength of the promises offered him by Balak made them to erect seven altars with seven oxen, and seven rams offered to each of them. Oh Lord, on this 7th Day of the 6th Month (the perfect day of Creation), any altar set up by the enemies against our lives, fighting our blessings, fruitfulness, success, growth, health, by revelation, let them be destroyed in the name of Jesus. By the sacrifice of Jesus, which is the highest sacrifice, we nullify the effect of every strange, demonic, occult sacrifice used to service such altar, in the name of Jesus. Father, wherever such altar is erected in the cover of the witches, wizards, occult or marine world, we decree that they shall not survive another day, in the name of Jesus. Lord, as you destroy the altars, let not those who service them be spared, in the name of Jesus.
We pray for you today, that anyone hired from the pit of hell in the realm of the spirit or physical to speak against you or to lay a curse on you, may JEHOVAH take over his or her mouth, in the name of Jesus. Wherever your matter shall be discoursed, may the Lord command those that will speak concerning you to speak in your favour, in the name of Jesus. We declare that whatever the Lord has not put in their mouth shall not be voiced out, in the name of Jesus.
All ministers of God must be careful not to incur His wrath in an attempt to say what God never permitted them to say. It is disheartening to note that there are several persons, ministers alike, saying what God never put in their mouth all for their selfish gain. Be warned today: “And he answered and said, must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?” Beloved, you are blessed by the Lord. God has promised to distinguish you among all the nations.
Reflection
- Quench every desire to bring others down in life, no matter what they did to you.
Prayer
- Father, Frustrate anyone commissioned to curse me. By your power, any time they open their mouth, let Blessing flow out in the Name of Jesus.
