TEXT: EZEKIEL 43:1-9
MEMORY VERSE: “Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcasses of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them forever” (Ezekiel 43:9).
The existence of man on earth is a function of the presence of God he carries. To be filled with God’s presence is to be full of life. Interestingly, God is ever ready to make His presence accessible and felt by everyone. However, the price you are willing to pay determines the dimension of His presence you will enjoy. There are those who have occasional experience of God; it is a once in a blue moon encounter and when it comes, they are very glad. On the other hand, there are others who experience God’s presence transiently; it is temporary and short lived. However, there are those with permanent encounter of God. They perpetually enjoy God’s presence each time. The experience of God is not limited to time or world factors but is a continuous, ceaseless flow.
It is this kind of endless experience that God envisaged for the children of Israel when He spoke to Prophet Ezekiel in our text. In fact, God committed Himself to ensure its reality when He expressly stated, “… and I will dwell in the midst of them forever”. Moreover, He warned that the price must be paid, which are these:
Righteousness: “Now let them put away their whoredom…” He is a Holy God who dwells in the midst of a holy people. We must put away all forms of sin.
RAISE AN ALTAR: “… put away… and the carcasses [statues, relics, monuments, images] of their kings…” We need to put away all evil altars that make us inconsistent with God and raise in their heart, an altar of holiness, righteousness, purity, and Christ-naturalness.
- Put away all forms of sin and idol worship from your life.
- Father, please grant me the grace to maintain your presence in my life always, in Jesus name.
