TEXT: DANIEL 3:1-30
MEMORY VERSE: “But if no, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up” (Daniel 3:18 KJV).
The three young men, Shadrach, Mashach, and Abednego decided to stand on the Lord’s side. The threat of death meant nothing to them. They refused to bow down and worship man made god. Like Mordecai, they were true Jews indeed. A true Jew would not bow to any god (Esther 3:2). The Bible said concerning Nathaniel, “Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and said concerning him, See! Here is an Israelite indeed [a true descendant of Jacob], in whom there is no guile nor deceit nor falsehood nor duplicity!” (John 1:47 AMP).
God is looking for His true worshipers (John 4:23-24). His true worshipers are those who would not worship another god; those who would not bow to the lure or enticement of sin; they would not allow themselves to be corrupted by the world; economic and financial pressures would not compel them to do what is wrong in the sight of God; and they would not succumb to any intimidation in the work place to join ungodly societies and associations or engage in any form of immorality.
Like the three friends, they would remain resolute and firm in their belief and faith in God. Their life of obedience and commitment to God would remain undented. They would hold onto forthrightness, no matter the circumstances.
God is looking for such people in His Church. Can we be numbered among them, even now? What is our relationship with the world? Are we friends or foes of Jesus? It is important that we harden our heart against sin and the world, incline our heart and mind to godliness and righteous living, and discipline ourselves to maintain purity of heart, soul, and spirit, and cleanliness of hands. These are the right things to do.
- Pledge your faithfulness to God and maintain it. Lord,
- Help me Lord to always stand firm for you in all things.
