TEXT: PROVERBS 27:6-22
MEMORY VERSE: “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17 NKJV).
We are all as an iron in the hands of God, and given the responsibility to help one another grow, develop, and become mature in the Christian faith, “… until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him” (Eph. 4:13 AMP).
God’s purpose, and intention is to make us perfect in His ways. We are supposed to be His human agents to accomplish this goal; to help one another become the saints of God, watching over one another’s soul lest we fall away from the faith.
We are not to become the “accuser of the brethren” (Rev. 12:10). No! We are to be helpful nurturers, guides, and comrades, and counsellors in the kingdom race. Our work is to help one another find joy in the Lord amidst the pains and tragedies of this evil world. God has given us the privilege to partner with Him in the redemption process. The Bible says, “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, … and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ …” (2 Cor. 5:18-20).
We have been commissioned to uphold one another with the true gospel, that we all may remain in the same fellowship with the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Let us do the work effectively, for it is well pleasing to our God.
- Be ready to watch out always for your soul and others’.
- Lord, grant me the grace to work effectively for you.
