TEXT: EXODUS 24:1-11
MEMORY VERSE: “And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient”(Exodus 24:7).
In our relationship with God, the most important is for us to take a firm decision to obey everything He has commanded us, and be faithful and true to our decision. Israel promised to keep God’s commandment. However, they were not faithful and true to their word. They often resorted to worshiping other Gods, and indulged themselves in different kinds of sins and iniquity.
To be Christians, we need to commit ourselves to serving and worshiping God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). We must devote our life to Him in absolute purity of heart and mind, and cleanliness of hands. There are blessings and rewards for obedience. We should develop in us a heart that yields easily to the word of God; a heart that yearns to maintain a constant relationship with Him; a heart that craves for the kingdom of God; a heart that eagerly awaits the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ; a heart that is gentle, meek, mild, and showers kindness on others; a heart that does not bear grudges against people but forgives very easily; a heart that goes out to seek others’ good and comfort. Such is the heart of Christ: the heart of a child. Let us have it in us. Such a heart will naturally obey God in all things.
Let us not be like the Israelites! We should walk on the path of simple obedience and surrender ourselves to God’s will and His word. If we do this, we “… shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper” (Ps. 1:3 NKJV).
- Decide in your heart to live a life of obedience to God.
- Lord, I have decided to follow you to the end. Please, see me through
