TEXT: EXODUS 17:1-19
MEMORY VERSE: “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was” (Exodus 17:4-5 NKJV)
We are on assignment on earth. God is in the business of rebuilding His world spiritually, socially, economically, governmentally, and in so many other areas of life and existence. We are labourers appointed to work committedly to accomplish these goals, according to the calling He has called us; and according to the gifts or talents He has given us.
Our memory verse invites to imitate our Lord Jesus Christ who accomplished His purpose (Heb. 12:2), and brought glory to the Father through His work. He said, “I have glorified You on the earth.” Can we boldly say same to our heavenly Father? Do we glorify Him by our lifestyle, the kind of things or work we do? Are we self-seeking? This is sin because we deny God His glory in the process and glorify ourselves: a wrong attitude to avoid.
Again, our Lord said to the Father, “I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” What is our score card like, concerning the work we are doing presently for God? Let us understand that even in our professions we are working for God. Everything adds up to fulfilling His will and purpose on earth. The Bible says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Exodus you are serving” (Col 3:23-24 NIV).How well have we fared? How committed are we to God’s will and purposes on earth? How faithful are we in His service? We should think about these things continually and align ourselves properly.
- Attend to your work for God with a professional mind.
- Lord, grant me the grace to accomplish you will for me.
