Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has threatened to sue Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, over alleged defamatory comments made during a recent television interview.

El-Rufai, through his lawyers at the Chambers of Ubong Akpan, issued a formal letter of claim dated September 7, 2026, demanding an immediate retraction of the alleged remarks, an unreserved apology and the preservation of relevant evidence.

The legal team took exception to several comments reportedly made by Musa during a September 3 television programme, particularly remarks concerning banditry, killings, demolitions, ransom payments and El-Rufai’s conduct during his tenure as Kaduna governor.

The lawyers described the statements as defamatory and noted that the broadcast remains available on terrestrial and satellite television, as well as online streaming platforms.

El-Rufai’s legal representatives gave the minister and his representatives 24 hours to acknowledge receipt of the letter and seven days to submit a substantive written response to the demands.
