The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the final forfeiture of 48 properties linked to former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to the Federal Government.
The order was granted on Wednesday by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja after the court ruled that the anti-graft agency had established that the properties were reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
In her judgment, Justice Abdulmalik held that the EFCC successfully demonstrated that the assets were not acquired through lawful sources of income, thereby meeting the legal requirements for their final forfeiture.
The ruling transfers ownership of the 48 properties to the Federal Government, marking a significant development in the Commission’s efforts to recover assets believed to have been acquired through illicit means.
