The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arraigned social media influencer and self-acclaimed relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, before the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, over an alleged N69.15 million fraud.
Blessing CEO was brought before Justice R.A. Oshodi on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing the sum of N69,150,000.
At the commencement of proceedings, the prosecution counsel, C.C. Okezie, urged the court to proceed with the arraignment, stating that the defendant had been duly served with the charge.
However, defence counsel, Nkama Nneka, informed the court that the service of the charge had only recently been effected.
In his ruling, Justice Oshodi held that the arraignment should proceed in accordance with the law. Following the ruling, the charges were read to the defendant.
The EFCC alleges that Blessing CEO obtained the money through false pretences and unlawfully converted it for personal use. The court subsequently proceeded with the arraignment as the case moves forward.
The matter was adjourned for further proceedings.
