PORT HARCOURT — The Rivers State chapter of the South-South Persons with Disability has called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the state of emergency declared in the state does not extend beyond the constitutionally allowed six months.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday, Chairman of the group, Altraide Itekena, announced plans to establish a reconciliation committee aimed at resolving the ongoing political crisis. The committee will engage with suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other key stakeholders.
Itekena expressed concern that the protracted conflict has disrupted governance and had a severe impact on Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs), who, he said, have been neglected by political leaders amid the unrest.
