Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has publicly apologised to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, amid reports of a rift between the two political figures.
Speaking during a public gathering, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and expressed regret over any misunderstanding that may have caused tension between them.
“The Gbaja this and Gbaja that of the world. My own baba. I know you’re upset, and I want to say I’m sorry in front of everyone,” Elliot said.
He added that he learnt politics under Gbajabiamila and appealed for forgiveness, saying: “He’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him. To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way.”
The actor-turned-politician also extended his apology to the “matriarch of Surulere,” while pledging to continue strengthening the party in the constituency.
Elliot further hinted at his intention to seek a fourth term in the Lagos State House of Assembly, stating that his performance in office speaks for itself.
“My scorecard is there for everyone living in Surulere, and I’ll never let you down if allowed to serve you again,” he said.
