Senator, Magnus Abe has said that a political party does not make leadership but, the people.
Abe made this known while reacting to the resignation of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, Ike Ekweremadu and Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe from the People’s Democratic Party.
According to him, someone’s political party no longer matter, adding that in the past those defecting would have been terrified to dump the party.
“Ekweremadu left PDP, Peter Obi left PDP, Abaribe left PDP, before they would have been terrified of leaving a political party….Party does not make leadership, it is the people that make leadership,” he said.
He called on Nigerians to elect credible leaders capable of transforming the nation, irrespective of their parties.
Unconfirmed report has it that Abe after his failed bid to clinch the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, is set to join another party to realize his long term ambition of governing the state.
