The Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has called on the Rivers State Police Command, to investigate the death of one Mrs Uchechi popularly known as ‘Oyinbo’ whose decomposing body was found in her apartment on Woke street in Mile 11 Diobu, Port Harcourt.
Uchechi’s body was discovered by her friend who came to visit her, four days after her lover disappeared with their 2-year-old daughter.
A lawyer with the organization, Festus Ponwin called on the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday to properly investigate the matter and the disappearance of the man.
He called on neighbours of the deceased to provide the Police with useful information that will lead to the arrest of her lover.
On his part, Caretaker of the apartment, Mr. Awurum Chinoye in a chat with journalists said the woman’s lover left with their baby after they had a fight.
He said findings revealed that the deceased was sick but the man failed to take her to the hospital, or alert her neighbours.
He explained that the matter has been reported to the Police and that the body has been deposited at a mortuary.
