Investors of a thrift contribution business locally known as “Akawo” have been left in tears as the company has absconded with their money.
The Company, situated at 83 Egede street in Diobu Port Harcourt, has been in operation for more than a year now with numerous customers.
As usual, investors this morning, arrived at the company, to carryout normal business activities but could not find any staff of the company, and its properties.
Some of them in a chat with our correspondent said they have been calling the lines of the workers, all to no avail.
On of them said: “This people done kill me, I invest all my money here even my wife own.”
According to another investor, he said a Rev. Fr with one of the Catholic churches in Diobu, who knows the owner of the business, advised them to save their money there.
“I don’t know if it was an arrangement between the Man of God and the Company to dupe people,” he said.
Another investor, a deaf and dumb lady who was in tears, in writing said she invested a hundred and eighty thousand naira.
Meanwhile, some residents of the area are threatening to destroy the building.
