Governorship candidate of Action Alliance, AA, in the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections, in Rivers State, Dr. Dawari Ibietela George, has set-up a 25-member Committee to chart the way forward for The Bridge Team and to strengthen the party at all levels. The Committee, which was set up at an expanded stakeholders meeting held at the Bridge Campaign Organization Office in Port Harcourt, was charged with reviewing the Team’s performance in the last election and making recommendations on the nexr line of action after reviewing the situation room reports and documentary evidence from the feild operations unit of the campaign organization.
Dr. George, who addressed the leaders in the post-election review meeting, also said that the electoral process left much to be desired. He condemned the violence, intmidation of voters and widespread irregularities that characterized the elections. “we do not agree with what the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared to be the final result”, he stated.
Dr. George suggested that it was time to begin the rebuilding of AA in Rivers State to an enviable platform to offer Rivers people a viable alternative to actualize their dream of a peaceful and prosperous state. “To every AA member and supporter, let me assure you that our future is bright and rather than being broken by the outcome of the elections, we should be more determined to give our all to restore our state to the path of dignity and planned development” , Dr. George added that Rivers State needed a new “Political, economic and social recalibration” to restore it to the original dream of its founding fathers.
The AA governorship candidate thanked God for securing the lives of his supporters and expressed his sympathy with some members and candidates of the party who sustained injuries and damage to their property from physical attacks by thugs and promised to attend to the situation.
The AA State Party Chairman, Mr. Sunday Gabriel Baju, in his remarks at the meeting, congratulated the candidates of the party for their examplary conduct before and during the elections, as well as members of the party for their loyalty and commitment throughout the electioneering process.
