The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has increased the depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from N1,185 to N1,200 per litre.

The new price, which took effect on August 26, 2026, was contained in a notice issued to customers by the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations.

The refinery also raised its coastal price from N1,562,265 to N1,582,380 per metric tonne.

Customers were directed to return existing Authorisation to Collect (ATC) documents for repricing, after which fresh volume contracts would be issued to facilitate product loading.

The latest adjustment comes only five days after the refinery increased its gantry price from N1,165 to N1,185 per litre.

The development may trigger another increase in retail petrol prices as marketers factor in transportation, distribution and other operational costs. In some locations, the product could sell for about N1,250 per litre.

The increase comes despite recent declines in international crude oil prices, with Brent, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Murban crude recording losses on Tuesday.

The Dangote Group had yet to provide an official explanation for the latest price adjustment as of the time of filing this report.
