Daily Manna 28 March

“And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.” – (Judges 7:15)

READ:                Judges 7:9-15 (KJV)

9. And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

10. But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host;

11. And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

12. And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

13. And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

14. And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

15. And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

Sometimes in life, we face challenges that overwhelm us. The challenges may be numerous and the resources inadequate. In such situations, we should never feel hopeless because God remains the believer’s ever-present Help in time of trouble.

In our text, Gideon faced overwhelming odds, which later resulted in victory, greatness and progress. The magnitude of the opposition and the battle made him to fear. No doubt, the enemy had more people, more artillery, more resources and more experience. Gideon and his army were heavily outnumbered and outwitted. It is noteworthy that God did not excuse him from the task.

When you face overwhelming situations, remember that God is bigger than the enemy. He is willing to help you and wants to show Himself strong on your behalf. God is waiting for you to follow His instruction. So, instead of excusing Gideon, He made a way for him to come into the camp of the Midianites where he overheard a conversation that strengthened his faith and confidence.

God can give us the strength and courage we need to face every battle in life. He may choose to take us first into the enemy’s camp so as to make us know how conquerable our enemy can be. But we must listen to Him and be ready to follow His directives. Only after we have learnt to follow God can we find strength and courage to confront oppositions. Trust and confidence in Him no doubt guarantees a performance of His promises to us.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  Only when we learn to follow God can we truly find strength and courage to confront oppositions.
