The leadership of UTONO OBOLO Worldwide has condemned the violent clash between youths in Ikuru Town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, and officials linked to HOSPARK, describing the incident as tragic and deeply concerning.
In a press statement signed by its Administrator-General, Dr. Romsan Dressman, the group said the confrontation reportedly led to the loss of one life and the alleged disappearance of others.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the escalation of violence that has led to this tragic development. The loss of even one life is a painful tragedy,” the statement read.
The organization extended condolences to the family of the deceased and others affected, urging all parties involved to immediately cease hostilities and embrace peaceful dialogue.
“Violence and bloodshed can never be the solution to disputes, no matter the underlying grievances. Dialogue, respect for human life, and adherence to the rule of law must guide the actions of all stakeholders,” it added.
UTONO OBOLO Worldwide also called on security agencies and the Rivers State Government to intervene swiftly to restore calm and ensure the protection of lives and property in the affected area.
The group further demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, stressing that anyone found culpable should be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
In addition, it appealed to youths in Ikuru and across Andoni Kingdom to exercise restraint and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions.
“Our communities must not become theatres of violence,” the statement emphasized, while reaffirming the group’s commitment to peace, unity, and development in Obolo land.
The organization urged community leaders, traditional rulers, and youth stakeholders to work collaboratively toward de-escalating the situation and resolving grievances through peaceful means.
