Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said that security agencies advised him to impose curfew in the State, in a bid to forestall further attacks in the State.
Wike, who made this known in a statement few days ago said people of the state should learn to make sacrifices to achieve a better tommorow.
The governor, who said he is aware of the hardship residents are going through alleged that criminals who can no longer kidnap successfully are the ones sending people to urge him to lift the restrictions.
“Criminals are the ones who are doing that. I will not agree. Life and property is important for me. All those criminals who have been sending people to go on radio that they are suffering, and that we should [shift] the curfew to 12 AM, to enable them kidnap people from 7 PM, will not succeed. Don’t waste your time,” he said.
“Some criminals who have not been suceeding in kidnapping have been sending people to go on radio to say the governor should be reasonable, and that they don’t want the curfew again,” he added.
