The Federal Government of Nigeria, has said that any COVID-19 vaccine not approved by its ministry of health, cannot be used in the country as it carry a certain amount of risk.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire made this known at a  media briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, yesterday.

He stated that arrangements have been put in place to effectively distribute vaccines that would arrive the country by the end of February.

“The government will not be responsible for the safety or efficacy of vaccines given outside the framework of the government. All the needs of Nigeria have been carefully calculated by NPHCDA, and it is possible to accommodate all interests in the framework,” he said.

“It is important to stress that all COVID-19 vaccines carry a certain amount of risk, and any vaccine not approved by the federal ministry of health through its agencies cannot be used in Nigeria,” he added.
