Some stakeholders in Rivers State, have slammed Governor Nyesom Wike for failing to take the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine, when the vaccination programme was flagged off in the state, yesterday.
The vaccination programme was flagged off at the state Government House, Port Harcourt, as Governor Wike was absent.
Spokesperson of the Rivers Civil Society Organizations, Solomon Lenu in a chat with journalists, said the government would have halted the programme, if it was not sure of the efficacy of the vaccines.
He criticized the Governor over his failure to take the jab, despite flagging off the programme and imposing series of lockdown in the state, to curtail the virus.
Lenu said the Governor has every right to neglect it if it was not sure of the Oxford Astrazeneca vaccines.
