A Magistrate Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa state, has sentenced one Ikamu Kato, a youth leader of the People’s Democratic Party, in the state, to two years imprisonment for insulting president Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Saharareporters, the youth was alleged to have insulted the president in a viral video on Facebook, following incessant attacks by suspected Boko Haram members in the area.
He was arraigned before the court by the Department of State Security, DSS.
Justice Dumas Gwama, while delivering the judgement said Kato, was sentenced to just two years, after he had begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
He said the court had to convict him to serve as deterrent to others.
