The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday indefinitely adjourned the suit filed by an African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Nafiu Bala Gombe, challenging the party’s leadership led by former Senate President David Mark.
Justice Emeka Nwite postponed the matter sine die after counsel to the plaintiff informed the court that an application had been submitted to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court seeking the reassignment of the case to another judge.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, has triggered renewed leadership tensions within the ADC following the emergence of David Mark and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola in the party’s leadership hierarchy.
During Friday’s proceedings, counsel to the plaintiff, Luka Musa Haruna, informed the court that the Supreme Court had on April 30 dismissed the interlocutory appeal earlier filed by Mark against the ongoing proceedings.
According to him, the apex court also nullified the Court of Appeal’s earlier order which had stayed proceedings in the substantive suit.
He told the court that the Supreme Court ruled that the appeal lacked merit and consequently dismissed it.
