–Charges Residents And Business Operatives To Embark On Regular Sanitation
In what could be best described as a proactive step towards the protection of lives and properties ahead of the impending 2023 flood as forecasted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has inaugurated a 17-man Emergency Management Committee.
The committee is mandated to identify possible flash points, sensitize residents of the LGA ahead of the imminent flood , as well as to work out modalities to cushion the effect of flood on residents of the Emohua LGA.

Inaugurating the commenttee at the local government council secretariat in Emohua on Friday, the chairman said the proactive step taken by his administration ahead of the impending 2023 flood is in line with the directive of the Governor of Rivers State, H.E Sir Siminalayi Fubara, stressing that it is better to prepare early and wait for the eventuality than to be taken unawares.
Dr. Lloyd charge the committee to embark on community-to-community enlightenment campaign to sensitize residents of the predicted flash points in the area on the early signs of flood and possible measures towards reducing its effects on the people.
Meanwhile Dr. Chidi Lloyd has called on residents of Emohua local government area, particularly Agba- Ndele; Rumuekpe, Elele-Alimini and Akpabu communities to embark on regular cleaning of their immediate environment, including the drainages and waterways in their respective communities to reduce the effect of the imminent 2023 flood in the area.
The council chairman while charging property owners and business operatives across Emohua LGA to carry out regular cleaning and distilling of drainages close to their properties and business environment, warned that failure to comply with directive of government will attract the full weight of relevant laws.
Dr.Lloyd enjoined community leaders to ensure maximum cooperation in their respective communities.
The council chairman further directed the committee to immediately mobilize manpower for the clearing of the median and distilling of the drainages along the Emohua LGA section of the East-West road; from Emohua/Choba bridge to the boundary between Emohua LGA and Ahoada-East LGA, to aid the operations of security personnel deployed to the area in furtherance of his administration’s commitment towards the fight against crime and criminality in Emohua local government area.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of members, chairman of the Local Government Emergency Management Committee and Executive Assistant on Special Duties to the council chairman, Hon Peter Wogbo while expressing gratitude to Dr. Chidi Lloyd for the privilege to serve the local government area promised not to disappoint the council chairman.
Peter Wogbo further commended the council chairman’s proactive step towards cushioning the effect of the imminent flood , as well as his appointment’s developmental strides which he said had already changed the narrative about the area within two years of the administration.
