The Rivers State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has commended Governor Nyesom Wike for lifting the restriction on church services in the state. This is to enable churches celebrate the Easter Sunday service fully.
Chairman of CAN in the state Stanley Dimkpa, in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday said, precautionary measures will be adhered to by all churches in the state.
Dimkpa stated that all churches have been directed to practice social distancing. He also urged churches to ensure worshippers wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizers before entering the church.
Governor Wike had earlier imposed restrictions on churches, in a bid to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
Earlier, Secretary of the Association, Bishop Emma Wogu, commended Governor Wike for the move and equally assured him of the Christian community’s support in the state.
