The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has denied releasing voters register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC for the October 5th Local Government Elections.
Recall that RSIEC had claimed to have gotten the register from INEC before the court order restraining the commission from releasing it.
However, Johnson Alalibo – the State Resident Electoral Commissioner in a statement Today in Port Harcourt, described the claim as false.
According to him, RSIEC had requested for the voters register, and that the process was still ongoing before the court order was issued.
He stated that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has restrained the commission from releasing the voters’ register, as they are adhering to the order.
