The Bonny Local Government Council has commenced the distribution of relief materials to residents affected by the recent flooding across parts of the area.
The council in a statement said the distribution, is aimed at easing the difficulties faced by affected families and providing immediate support as they recover from the impact of the flood.
The relief materials, donated by the Rivers State Government, include 150 bags of 25kg rice, 400 bags of 10kg beans, 30 bags of 25kg salt, 40 gallons of 10-litre palm oil, 14 cartons of Knorr seasoning cubes containing 196 packets, 25 cartons of vegetable oil containing 300 packets, 120 bags of 25kg garri and 200 cartons of Indomie noodles, among other non-food items.
It said the Chairman, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple appreciated the support of the Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee, headed by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu.
Pepple also commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his intervention and support for flood-affected communities across the state.
He said the assistance would provide relief to families affected by the flooding at this critical period.
