The Leader of the Bonny Legislative Council, Kingsley Tammy Jumbo, has fulfilled his pledge to provide monthly stipends to elderly citizens across the 15 communities in Ward 10, with a commitment to sustain the support until the end of his tenure.
The stipend initiative, valued at ₦150,000 monthly, was implemented following a strategic meeting with community chairmen, where the legislative leader promised regular financial support for elderly residents in recognition of their contributions and as a gesture of appreciation to the communities.
During an engagement session with beneficiaries on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Jumbo emphasized that senior citizens deserve direct welfare support from their elected representatives.
He explained that the disbursement process would follow a structured and transparent format, with forms issued monthly to ensure accountability and equal access for qualified beneficiaries.
According to the media office of the Bonny Legislative Council, beneficiaries for the January cycle received their forms in December 2025, while those selected for February have already obtained theirs ahead of the March disbursement schedule.
Beneficiaries drawn from the 15 Ward 10 communities expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as unprecedented in the area. They commended the council leader’s commitment to welfare and community development, noting that structured elderly support of this nature has not previously been experienced in the ward.
The beneficiaries include representatives from Burukiri, Epelema, Arugbanama, Polokiri, Olokolomabie, Georgekari, Oloma, Iloma, Minima, Fuakpa, Alashiakiri, Ayaminima, Sangama, Owupiri, and Orupiri communities.
The council advised that beneficiaries who were unavailable during the latest distribution can contact the Special Assistant to the Leader, Mr. Ifeanyi Imeh, for clarification and collection arrangements.
