The Rivers State Police Command, has reacted to deadly attacks at the Imo State Police Headquarters and Correctional Home by unknown Gunmen on Monday.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni in a statement immediately after the incident, said there is no cause for alarm as they are prepared to repel any attack by criminals in the state.
He assured residents of the state, of their safety and protection, despite the increasing deadly attacks on police formations across the country.
Omoni said: “There is no cause for alarm. The Police in Rivers State is prepared to repel any such attack. We are able and equal to the task,” he said.
Unknown gunmen had on Monday afternoon attacked the Imo state Police Headquarters and Correctional Centre, as about 1880 prisoners were reported to have escaped.
Meanwhile the Police hierarchy has accused the Eastern Security Outifit of the Indigenous People of Biafra, of masterminding the attack.
