Nollywood actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recognised his worth despite his previous criticisms, while accusing his former principal, Peter Obi, of betraying him.
Okonkwo made the remarks on Politics Today on Thursday, a day after he was appointed spokesperson for Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 election.
A former spokesperson for Obi in the Labour Party, Okonkwo said he ended his association with the former Anambra governor in 2024 after concluding that Obi lacked the decisiveness needed to govern Nigeria.
He explained that he publicly announced his departure to make it clear he was no longer speaking on Obi’s behalf, adding that he has since resumed his role as a public affairs analyst and continued expressing his views independently.
