A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has defended the right of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to contest the 2027 presidential election, saying no amount of political pressure can push him out of the race.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Momodu dismissed calls for Atiku to step down in favour of Peter Obi or support a possible alliance between Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He argued that elections are not won through emotions, regional sentiments, or social media influence alone, stressing that political success depends on structure, strategy, and numbers.
According to Momodu, many Nigerians wrongly believe that an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would automatically secure victory in 2027.
“Elections don’t run on emotion. It’s a shame that people don’t read. We go on the internet and shout: ‘Once we have Obi and Kwankwaso, it is over.’ Nothing is over,” he said.
