The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Gift Chinyere, has handed over a young boy abandoned at his residence to the Rivers State Ministry of Social Welfare.
According to the cleric, officials of the ministry arrived at his home to take custody of the child after he was found at his gate. He disclosed that the boy was in a distressed condition when first discovered.
“When I saw him yesterday, he had a very offensive odour. I immediately instructed one of my staff to take him to a boutique to get clean clothes and underwear,” Chinyere said.
He commended the Ministry of Social Welfare for its efforts in caring for vulnerable and stranded children, describing their intervention as commendable.
The cleric, however, noted that he would no longer be able to take in abandoned children for now, citing ongoing legal and registration processes.
“For now, until my lawyers complete the necessary registration, I cannot accept any child abandoned at my gate,” he added.
