The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has assured its members that the leadership of the party remains intact despite a recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chibuike Ikenga, the APC said it was aware of the Court of Appeal’s ruling of May 29, 2026, in an interlocutory appeal arising from a suit involving the party and Okwu Joebrown Ndike.
According to the statement, the appeal, marked CA/PH/523/2024, challenged the jurisdiction of the Rivers State High Court, including its directive that parties maintain the status quo and the competence of the suit before the lower court.
The party explained that the Court of Appeal has remitted the matter to the court of first instance for a full trial, stressing that the judgment does not affect the status of the current executive committee.
“There is no threat to the status of the EXCO pending full trial. Our lawyers will study the full judgment and advise on the next step,” the statement said.
The APC leadership also urged party faithful to remain calm and avoid being misled by what it described as deliberate misrepresentations of the judgment by individuals who lack a proper understanding of the court proceedings.
The party reaffirmed its confidence in the legal process and assured members that it would take appropriate action after receiving legal advice on the judgment.
