The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has stated that the ruling party is deliberately tolerating the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, despite political differences.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja after a meeting with party stakeholders, Yilwatda explained that the APC’s cooperation with Wike is based on an existing understanding with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He clarified that Wike has not officially defected to the APC but is maintaining a working relationship approved by his party, having obtained permission from the PDP to serve in the APC-led government.
Yilwatda also raised concerns about internal tensions within the party in the FCT, particularly clashes between founding APC members and recent entrants from the PDP, who are accused of attempting to take control of party structures.
He urged longstanding party members not to abandon the APC due to mounting pressure from defectors.
