Caretaker Committee Chairman of Andoni LGA, Hon. Reginald Ekaan has paid the three months promotion arrears for recently promoted Senior and Junior Staff of the Council.
Mrs Ubokikwan Nteija Appolos – Secretary, Andoni Local Government Council, disclosed this in a statement.
She also said modalities are being worked on for the implementation of the N35,000 wage award approved by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
The statement reads,
In furtherance of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara’s vision of delivering an improved welfare for civil servants in the State, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Andoni Local Government Council, Hon. Reginald Ekaan Esq has paid the three months promotion arrears for recently promoted Senior and Junior Staff of the Council.
This is as modalities are being worked on for the implementation of the N35,000 wage award approved by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
The Hon. Reginald Ekaan led Caretaker Committee has also directed the Head of Local Government Administration(HLGA) and the Treasurer of the Andoni Local Government Council to avail it with the financial implications of the implementation of the recently reviewed and approved N70,000 minimum wage. This will allow for a seamless implementation as directed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
These gestures are part of measures aimed at improving the lives of Andoni people as contained in the mandate of the Caretaker Committee.
Already, the first phase of the Council’s Financial Empowerment has captured over 500 beneficiaries with the second phase billed for flagg-off in the coming days.
Hon. Reginald Ekaan is therefore charging Council workers to reciprocate the good gesture by exerting more efforts in the discharge of their responsibilities as Council Staff, just as he appealed to Andoni people to keep faith and continue in their support for his administration and the Rivers State government to deliver more people oriented policies and programmes.
The promotion and implementation of the full financial benefits for local government employees is the first of its kind in eight years across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State as the previous administration failed to promote workers in the State Civil Service.
